D148: 01.23.22

Workout: Cardio
Equipment Used: Schwinn AirDyne
Duration: ~5mi/~29min
Driver: Yes - 9012Live
Calories: ???

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel: Been a really long while since I was able to do back to backs. Today, Legs were iffy, so I thought I would go super-casual, just get the blood flowing and keep on rhythm and not much else, essentially an entire session of speeds perhaps slightly above, but more or less warm-up and cool-down, which worked pretty well...stomach got a bit cranky at the end, which is why I cut it short. Obviously, Air was not pushed. Also been a really long while since a sub-30 min workout, but I figured this was close enough. Mileage for the year now at 71.

Observations/Intel: Felt better today, Legs in solid (though not sprint) shape, though I was able to run cadence a bit hotter and push Air a bit more. No complaints, other than my Shoulder still being dumb...mileage now 66 for the year.

Workout: Cardio
Equipment Used: Schwinn AirDyne
Duration: ~8mi/~39min
Driver: Placebo - We Come In Pieces

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel: Not sure how effective the GlycoCARN is as of yet, but pretty sure I'm fighting off something. Feeling pretty dragged down and battling a bit of the gamboo. It's kind of like an allergy but not exactly...not quite a cold, either...figuring it's probably pollution, which is dreadful currently. It's not enough to stop me, but is definitely slowing me down and almost certainly impacting recovery. Legs were a touch fried today, so I tried to go more casual. I've also struggled quite a bit with Shoulder joint pain, so I've held off on the bodyweight stuff until that subsides. It's more nuisance than anything else so far...mileage now 56 for the year.

D145: 01.18.22

Workout: Cardio
Equipment Used: Schwinn AirDyne
Duration: ~10mi/~48min
Driver: Yes - Union Live
Calories: ???

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel: Legs were shot Sunday, as I was fairly active after the workout also. My Right Shoulder is still being a PITA, so no bodyweight workout. I have re-added Glyco-CARN back into things in the hope that recovery will pick up somewhat. I've been fighting bad allergies (or air pollution, not sure which) lately, which has screwed my appetite somewhat, also not helping. Today, allergies (or pollution), but Legs felt like they could go, so we went. Took it a lot more casual today and had I not a burning need to pee, might have extended this more.

Mileage is now 48 for the year. Weigh-in was 238, but I've been deliberately trying to not be as active to focus more on recovery. I think some light activity, like walks, would be of benefit, but pollution and pandemic are making a combination I have no desire to fuck around with, so catch-as-catch-can until one of them relents, I guess.

D144: 01.15.22

Workout: Cardio
Equipment Used: Schwinn AirDyne
Duration: ~8mi/~38min
Driver: Amon Amarth: Versus The World
Calories: ???

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel: Loaded well, Legs felt ok for most of the morning, though I was more active yesterday (and Thursday post workout) than planned, allergies a touch iffy, but they have to be near-paralyzing for me to be concerned with them these days. Got on the Air Dyne ready to chase the max, but after a longer than usual warm-up, followed by an attempt at a mini-sprint, it was clear they did not have the recuperation to attempt it. So, I backed off and just stick to a solid cadence, which was still pinging them. Air was also more tested than usual.

Before the September/October lapse of last year, I had been using L-CARN as part of my loading. I may consider going back to it, as it seemed to help with recovery. I mostly just keep forgetting lately, so I probably need to move the jar where I can see it to remember. Now at 38 miles for the year.

Also did a weigh-in, which was 237 (-2), so right back where I left off last year. If previous years trends hold, once I hit 220, things will start to get a lot more stubborn, but we'll see...

Workout: Cardio
Equipment Used: Schwinn AirDyne
Duration: ~13mi/~60min
Driver: Yes - Union Live
Calories: ???

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel:Attempted the bodyweight routine yesterday, but Right Shoulder was a bit on the aggravated side, so after a set of Inclines, I bagged it. I might need to start doing more Rotator work again.

Today, allergies were awful and took a long time to get out of. Legs were fine, but I decided to slow down the pace somewhat, since weekdays are supposed to be duration moreso. I didn't mean to go a full hour, but I'll take it. As I didn't press it, Air was fine, Legs mostly as well, though my ass started to get a bit saddle sore towards the end. I don't know if I will be chasing the sprints this weekend...TBD.

Weigh-in yesterday was 239 (+1), which is kind of the wrong direction, but I anticipated something like this after the shell shock of the stomach shit over last weekend as my system resets. I'm not on a high enough caloric load to really be putting on fat, so probably water retention (I had some snacks from my off week I needed to finish, which were, try as I might to get away from it, somewhat high sodium), along with possibly too low of a caloric intake. That should improve the more regular I can be with exercise. I'm also now 30 miles for the year.

Workout: Cardio
Equipment Used: Schwinn AirDyne
Duration: ~10mi/~41min
Driver: In Flames - Used & Abused
Calories: ???

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel: I'm still not feeling 100%, but this is the first day I've felt mostly "back" on the Air Dyne. Legs weren't quite there, but hit some pretty solid spin speeds for duration. Allergies were funky, but Air held up pretty well.

This puts me at 17 for the year (I'm just going to keep running track). I have a really soft goal of hitting at least 100 miles per month for the months I'm not able to resume the gym, which strikes me as fairly readily attainable at my current condition. I've held off weighing in during that recent bit of issues, but I probably need to do one of those again soon.

D141: 01.10.22

Workout: Strength
Equipment Used: Bodyweight
Duration: ~20 min
Driver: N/A
Calories: ???

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel: Last bike workout was kind of wonky, with me feeling off, a feeling which intensified and continued Friday. Saturday, I started prepping, as normal, but it became clear that there was something major wrong with my stomach, which precluded any kind of strain at all and a close location to a toilet. Sunday was better, but still didn't feel like my body was going to tolerate any kind of digging in or gutting out, so I decided to let that pass as well and hope that whatever the issue, it would be out of my system by then.

I was a bit iffy on today, but felt like I should give it a go, since I'll be doing this fucking bodyweight shit for a while until COVID calms down again. I slept wrong about a week ago and certain muscles towards my neck are still a touch sore, so I broke up Crunches a bit more. Overall, happy with better than anticipated numbers...

Incline push-ups: BWX15,15,15
Flat push-ups: BWX15,15, 0
Decline push-ups: BWX10,10,10

Flat crunches: BWX25, 25, 25, 25

Workout: Cardio
Equipment Used: Schwinn AirDyne

Driver: In Flames - Used & Abused
Calories: ???

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel: Part of me thinks that I waited too long for the off-week, as the mental exhaustion is still fairly prominent, but another part reminds me that some of what I was doing made the time less restful than it could have been. To wit, I gave myself the option of having beers every single day once the OFF week officially started, i.e. after the day of recovery from the last workout. Now, I wound up skipping some days and calling the entire thing off in advance of that week, but, for those days when I did indulge, some of them compromised my rest fairly substantially. I planned on not really going off-diet so much as loosening it, but I'm still running calories too low and find myself in a definite stall. There was also some shoveling in there as well, though it was mostly a breeze. We'll come back to that a bit later, but today...

My sleep schedule being erratic continues and I loaded this morning twice, as I woke up ravenous way too early. When I went down to kick on the tv for the workout, the socket that I was using as my source was kaput. So, I wound up getting pissed, playing Resident Evil 2 for a while longer, then going back down and re-running power, which really threw off the timing of everything, including caloric loading. Consequently, when I got back to it, I was pretty hungry again. The light is also not optimal for me doing sprints and I'm going to need to figure something out there. I am going to re-attempt the MAX again this weekend, I think...we'll see how it goes. I really only have that one sprint goal left to hit, really and I suppose as long as I can see the needle, I can guess at the distance. Both Air and Legs were fine today, but I got to it really late and ran out of time moreso than anything else.

Starting weigh-in for 2022 is 238, which is +1 from where I left last year, but kind of expected. I need to get diet re-dialed back in and regular workouts always kind of help to keep me in the mode. I did explore gyms a bit over that time. The one closest to me is puny, expensive, and does not so much as have lockers, so fuck that. There is one a bit more distant and I think it's where the equipment from the place I used to like so much wound up, also half the money, so I'll probably wind up there. COVID-19 is exploding once again, though, so it won't be before February at the earliest and realistically probably not until March. So, back to the Push-ups next week...
