D213: 04.14.25

Workout: Cardio
Equipment Used: Schwinn AirDyne
Duration: 7 mi/~30 min
Driver:  Dimmu Borgir: Forces Of Northern Night

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel: Yesterday, was feeling pretty off, so I decided to bag it entirely, rather than push through. That was the good move as I was ready to go this morning. Legs were a little stiff in the beginning, but after some good warm-up, I was able to run cadence a bit higher. Air was pushed a bit but mostly because it is at a decidedly not great level. Fitness, in many ways, is a direct measure of consistency, so getting that dialed in to the extent possible is more the focus. I suppose in a way it's like doing the actual lifts, wherein using proper form is more important than the actual weights used. Speaking of weight, I probably also need to do a weigh-in at some future point as well.

Workout: Cardio
Equipment Used: Schwinn AirDyne
Duration: 6 mi/~29 min
Driver:  Dimmu Borgir: Forces Of Northern Night

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel: Didn't keep track of the time, so I'm kind of guessing. In February, I started feeling under the weather, which persisted through most of March, while my work situation steadily deteriorated to the point that it seemed pretty likely it was damaging my mental health. At the end of February, that former company actually wound up costing me a bunch of money in an impromptu reversal, solidly establishing they could not be trusted and I could not continue on with them. So, I left at the end of March, then took the time after to decompress as well as to start streaming video games on Twitch and YT, which is kind of like its own job.

My mental state is much improved now and the tendency was to vacillate, particularly the last couple months between wanting to get back into fitness and the fucking gym to go get diesel, etc. and to swill booze. COVID in January of last year has created a lot of...changes to my system, however, one of which is how my body relates to alcohol, so that part is pretty much a non-starter now.

Anyway, good motivation today. Legs have dropped off a bit, but, again after a couple kind of trashy months, I've overhauled the diet and am more intent now on pushing than in the past. I have some time before I necessarily will have to find a new gig, if this streaming shit doesn't go, and I really need to push the unfattening equation harder...so, will do that. If my awful Air is outpacing Legs rather handily, such as today, we have a definite issue...I'm going to try for every day other than Tuesday and Friday on the Air Dyne and see how that goes.

Workout: Cardio
Equipment Used: Schwinn AirDyne
Duration: 6 mi/27 min
Driver:  Dimmu Borgir: Forces Of Northern Night

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel: Today got really really sloppy and I kinda sorta felt I should have run it longer, but Right Knee was being a touch cranky and I want to get in another workout tomorrow to close out the month, so decided to just keep it light for today. Cadence was slightly hotter, so the possibility to push harder tomorrow and if I'm able to slide in a workout this weekend is quite present.

Workout: Cardio
Equipment Used: Schwinn AirDyne
Duration: 6 mi/28 min
Driver:  Dimmu Borgir: Forces Of Northern Night

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel: Headache trashed the weekend, pretty much and today felt a touch tetchy in the beginning, but settled in after the first bit. Cadence was about that of last time and I think if I manage to do both the workouts I have tentatively in mind for this week, I will try to stretch to 45 minutes one of the days this coming up weekend, when I don't have anything heat-related planned and see how that goes.  From there, I will need to determine if I push to 60 minutes or start moving towards more HIIT stuff and I'm not sure yet which it will be. Possibly a combination of both...and of course I need to do a weigh-in this weekend.

D209: 01.23.25

Workout: Cardio
Equipment Used: Schwinn AirDyne
Duration: 7 mi/32 min
Driver:  Dimmu Borgir: Forces Of Northern Night

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel: Today again felt pretty good, which was nice as yesterday was pretty rough. I am keeping Fridays as an OFF day to the extent possible, so decided to push just a touch today. Legs were fine and could have gone longer, but Air was trash. Also, I had lunch a bit later than usual and it was also heavier than normal, so the front part of this was a bit sluggish. Not planning more than 1 day this weekend as a part of the activities in which I like to partake involve very spicy food and if I can, I'm going to try to fit in a challenge this weekend, which will pair not at all with even semi-intense exercise. If I have to tank that attempt, however, I may shoot for both days.

D208: 01.20.25

Workout: Cardio
Equipment Used: Schwinn AirDyne
Duration: 6 mi/28 min
Driver:  Dimmu Borgir: Forces Of Northern Night

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel: Today felt pretty good. I find I'm liking hitting the bike in the day a lot more and if I am able to string enough of these together to feel confident enough to resume the gym, I might have to figure better timing so I'm not doing night workouts. I also think that recovery will be somewhat of an issue if I try to run them that late, but cart ahead of the horse and all that. Obviously, I've not been successful in resuming the gym anywhere near where I'd hoped. While Legs felt pretty good and were solid (and I probably would have gone a bit longer if I hadn't forgotten the time I started - trying to hover around the half hour mark for now), Air was, predictably, trash.

Workout: Cardio
Equipment Used: Schwinn AirDyne
Duration: 6 mi/30 min
Driver:  Twisted Sister: Live At Reading 1982

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel: The days after the last workout got pretty busy, so I wasn't able to hop back on until today. Legs were a touch on the tweaky side, with my Right Knee a bit twingy, but still holding, so no real pushing today. Continuing to work on diet and I'll probably be doing a weigh-in either on Jan 31 or Feb 1, somewhere in there, regardless of how many more I'm able to string together, to get a baseline. Recovery seems like it might wind up being an issue, at least currently.

D206: 01.14.25

Workout: Cardio
Equipment Used: Schwinn AirDyne
Duration: 5 mi/26 min
Driver:  Dirkschneider: Accepted

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel: The DVD is finally over. Legs definitely are not entirely recovered from yesterday, so a lot lighter today. Tomorrow will be entirely off and then with any luck, will be able to get back in the saddle again Thursday. Also, shooting for one or both days this weekend and just try to keep a good flow and rhythm going. Legs do not seem to need a whole bunch of building, per se, at least at this level, just more acclimation, so hopefully by February, maybe sooner, I can start pushing it over to start working more on the cardio aspect of things.

D205: 01.13.25

Workout: Cardio
Equipment Used: Schwinn AirDyne
Duration: 6 mi/30 min
Driver:  Dirkschneider: Accepted

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel: I have one more session left of the Dirkschneider DVD and was very seriously beginning to wonder if I'd ever finish it. Got a really gnarly migraine the day after the last workout and that took a while to resolve itself. I also thought I pulled something, which felt a bit like a constant runners cramp in my side, but that eventually worked itself out. I felt a bit like a scratchy throat this morning, so may have been fighting off something, but felt well enough by the end of the day to either go get a sixie of Grolsch, which admittedly was sounding real good, or workout. Obviously, I did not choose the beer, as I didn't want to actually leave the house. Air was its usual crappiness, but Legs, despite being a touch oddly sore when I got on, were more than up to it and I was able to run the cadence a bit higher. Diet was pretty streaky admittedly over the weekend, but today was good and the rest of the week should also be fine, as I don't actually have too much crap left lying about the house.

D204: 01.07.25

Workout: Cardio
Equipment Used: Schwinn AirDyne
Duration: 6 mi/30 min
Driver:  Dirkschneider: Accepted

Quality Level: N/A
Observations/Intel: When we left off last, my Right Knee was giving me fits, which it continued to do, on and off, for all of 2024 and yes, the Dirkschneider DVD waited patiently in my PS4 for 9 long months before I went back to viewing it. There is also a stack of DVDs waiting for me to watch them during a workout that has been there nearly as long.

Lots of assorted other body-related issues in 2024 that are hopefully concluded, but I think whatever issue there was with the Knee has worked itself out now (I hope) and we commence with The Great Unfattening project once again. Also once again, the eventual goal is to resume the gym, which perhaps I will luck out and be able to do by April, but I'm doubting it. The things I need to do right now is to unfuck the diet, which I'm going to start now and hopefully will be in full throttle by the end of January. Since all the stuff I had in my freezer and fridge thawed out when the refrigerator stopped working, I essentially have to start over again anyway once a new one is delivered. Air is also totally shit and I'm not even going to bother with doing a weigh-in for a while. Focus right now is on trying to tighten up the diet and to get re-acquainted with the AirDyne again, so 30 minute workouts for the foreseeable future, although ideally I will be able to extend those to an hour. The idea is to get below 230 so I can go join a gym and go back more to that kind of lifestyle. I may even start biking again, although I'm also strongly tempted to sell the bike and be done with that entirely. I go back and forth on that and will for a while, I imagine.
